In addition to the instruction, special education provides a multidisciplinary team to assist students, parents, and school personnel.  School psychology specialists complete comprehensive evaluations/reevaluation, conduct conferences, and provide assistance, support, and behavioral interventions as needed.  Related services personnel are also available to serve students with disabilities as appropriate.  In addition, the Special Services staff provides school building level screenings, technical assistance, and inservice training.  Personnel from the Special Services Center work closely with special education teachers, speech/language pathologists, principals, regular educators, and parents to determine appropriate programming and placement for eligible students.

The Rogers district currently serves approximately 1500 special education students.  The instructional staff has 46 resource teachers, 35 teachers in self-contained settings, 2 teachers for the hearing impaired, 1 teacher for the visually impaired, 2 teachers providing indirect services, 15  speech/language pathologists, 2 speech assistants, 4 educational interpreters for the deaf, and 60 educational aides. The Special Services staff includes 8 school psychology specialists, a school psychology intern, a behavioral specialist/counselor, a social worker, a special education supervisor, an assistant supervisor and 3 clerical staff members.  Physical therapists, occupational therapists, and an autism spectrum disorders specialist serve eligible students through purchased service agreements.  Also, an assistive technology/special education consultant and paraprofessional provide assistance in meeting the technological needs of students with disabilities.

Special education students in some of the self-contained settings have the opportunity to participate in therapeutic horseback riding.  These services are provided  through the cooperative efforts of school personnel and individuals in the community.  The success of the programs is the result of hard work, dedication, and positive attitudes embraced by volunteers, parents, and school staff.
